The ESG JumpStart Workshop: 2021 Webinar Series, open exclusively to Nareit corporate members, will provide the opportunity to learn from the experience of peers and subject matter experts who have successfully developed and initiated an ESG program for a REIT. The workshop will feature a total of six 90-minute educational webinars and two virtual open office hour sessions held Jan. 25-Feb. 5.
The ESG JumpStart Workshop: 2021 Webinar Series programming is relevant to many roles at a REIT. Last year’s workshop attendees represented 78 REITs and included CIOs, SVPs of investor relations, marketing specialists, and many others. The workshop program will cover topics such as:

Webinar #1: Organizational Change and How to Start an Effective ESG Program

Webinar #2: Environmental Initiatives: The Importance of Data Management

Data is an important—but daunting—aspect of managing an effective ESG program. Webinar #4: REITs and Social Initiatives: Measuring the “S” of ESG

The “S” of ESG stands for social, but covers a myriad of important issues ranging from health and safety to diversity, equity and inclusion. The instructor will discuss how to start—or improve upon—social programs, best practices for stakeholder engagement, and which key performance indicators you should be tracking.
Webinar #5: How to Start Reporting on ESG Performance

Instructors will discuss the available reporting frameworks and third-party aggregators with a focus on GRESB, SASB and TCFD and how they are used. Learn how to choose which frameworks to use and best practices for reporting/disclosing ESG performance and policies. Instructors will also provide guidance on issuing a stand-alone sustainability report, utilizing GRI guidance.
Webinar #6: Governance KPIs: Reporting the “G” of ESG
Date: Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021 from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m. EST
Instructors: Carol Samaan, Vice President-Corporate Counsel and ESG, Healthpeak Properties
The instructor will discuss reporting metrics and policies for governance issues (the “G” in ESG) and governance of ESG issues for REITs. They will review best practices for starting an executive sustainability committee, disclosure of governance policies and reporting metrics, board-level ESG commitment, and other ESG governance-related topics.
Week Two Open Office Hours

Instructors from webinars #4-6 will be available to answer any additional questions attendees may have.
To participate in all six webinars and the two open office hour sessions, the cost will be $450. A la carte webinar registrations also will be available for $90 per webinar. Webinars will be hosted via Zoom, and recordings of the webinars will be made available to registrants.
Those who register for webinars #1, #2, and/or #3 will receive an invitation to virtual office hours with instructors held on Jan. 29. Those who register for webinars #4, #5, and/or #6 will receive an invitation to virtual office hours held on Feb. 5.
