NAREIT joined a coalition of real estate organizations in filing an amicus curiae brief with the Supreme Court with regard to a property rights case.

The brief, which was filed on April 18, relates to Murr v. Wisconsin. The case addresses the  compensation of real estate owners of two legally separate, but contiguous parcels of property in the event of a governmental "taking." Currently the federal courts are split in their view of the issue.

The organizations that are part of the amicus filing include the National Association Of Home Builders, The Real Estate Roundtable, National Association Of Realtors, International Council Of Shopping Centers, National Apartment Association, Building Owners And Managers Association, National Multifamily Housing Council and Leading Builders Of America.
