Rep. George Holding in Los Angeles

Aug. 10, 2015 – During a visit to Southern California, Rep. George Holding (R-NC), center, met with several REIT executives based in the Los Angeles area and received a briefing on the critical issues now facing the industry. Holding, a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, will be involved in all upcoming tax and revenue issues discussed in Congress that may have an impact on REITs and the publicly traded real estate industry. Meeting with Holding: Olivia Bartel Leigh, senior vice president for property management with Macerich (NYSE: MAC); Steve Wechsler, NAREIT president and CEO; Ron Havner, chairman, president and CEO of Public Storage (NYSE: PSA); and Jeff Hawken, COO of Kilroy Realty Corp. (NYSE: KRC). During the luncheon, the group discussed such issues as FIRPTA reform, the Remote Transactions Parity Act related to e-commerce, the proposed regulations from the Department of Labor regarding financial advisors, and several proposals contained in last year’s tax reform proposal introduced by in the Ways and Means Committee.
