AvalonBay Communities Inc. (NYSE: AVB), Land Securities Group PLC (LSE: LAND) and Regency Centers Corp. (NYSE: REG) took home top honors in the annual NAREIT Investor CARE Awards for Investor Communications and Reporting Excellence.
The awards recognize companies for their work in shareholder communications via annual reports and online media platforms. The winners were selected by a panel of REIT securities analysts and portfolio managers, and all NAREIT members were eligible.
"The nine judges who chose NAREIT's Investor CARE Award winners this year indicated that they had a very tough time because so many of the annual reports and websites were deemed to be of extremely high quality in terms of design and presentation, management discussion and analysis, comprehensiveness and clarity," said Bonnie Gottlieb, NAREIT's vice president for industry and member affairs. "The winners have much to be proud of. They stood out in an exceptional group of contenders."
Regency Centers won the Gold Award in the category for management discussion and analysis. Brookfield Properties Corp. (NYSE: BPO) received the Silver Award in the category, while Boston Properties Inc. (NYSE: BXP) won the Bronze Award.
"This reflects the commitment of Regency's accounting team to clear and concise reporting," said Bruce Johnson, the company's executive vice president and chief financial officer.
In the category for presentation and design of an annual report, AvalonBay was given the Gold Award. Shaftesbury PLC (LSE: SHB) won the Silver Award, and Hammerson PLC (LSE: HMSO) received the Bronze Award.
Land Securities won the Gold Award in the category for investor relations website. Brookfield Properties received the Silver Award in the category, while Ventas Inc. (NYSE: VTR) won the Bronze Award.
