By Allen Kenney
Commercial real estate investment group J.E. Robert Companies (JER) has tapped industry veteran Barden Gale as its new CEO, the firm announced June 29.
JER founder Joseph E. Robert, Jr., who has served as the firm's chairman and CEO since 1981, will be staying on as executive chairman. While Gale will be taking over JER's daily operations, Robert will continue to play an advisory role and have a hand in business development.
"Barden's 32 years of experience, exceptionally diverse real estate background, investment expertise and track record as a manager, distinguished him amongst the candidates. His impressive leadership qualities will be instrumental in shaping the company and running the business." Robert said. "Barden is a top executive whose experience through the various real estate cycles, combined with his international experience, makes him a tremendous asset to JER today and in the future."
Gale won NAREIT's 2007 Industry Achievement Award and currently serves as co-chair of NAREIT's Real Estate Investor Advisory Council. Prior to joining JER, Gale was vice chairman of real estate for Starwood Capital Group.
"I am extremely pleased to be joining a renowned firm with a history of managing through and prospering in times of adversity and distress," Gale said.
