Multifamily REIT UDR Inc. (NYSE: UDR) has created a new application for users of Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch that enables on-the-go apartment hunters to find the company's properties.
The free program, Apartments by UDR Inc., allows users to search for apartments based on a number of factors, such as city, price and number of bedrooms. Users also have the ability to reserve and hold apartments until they tour them. Pricing information available through the application is updated daily.
The application includes GPS activation, so users automatically can search for apartments based on their current location. The program also provides mapping and directions features.
"The demographic and technographic data for the mobile market fit perfectly into UDR's mobile strategy to attract and retain apartment renters who are becoming more reliant on a mobile device and less reliant on their personal computers," said Steve Taraborelli, the company's vice president of sales and marketing. "Not only are we attracting apartment prospects within the United States, but from around the world now."
