Brixmor Property Group Inc.(NYSE: BRX) named James Taylor as its new president and CEO, effective May 20. Taylor was most recently CFO at Federal Realty Investment Trust (NYSE: FRT).
Cedar Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE: CDR) appointed Robin McBride Zeigler as COO. Zeigler joins Cedar from Penzance, a Washington, D.C-based commercial real estate investment company.
Crown Castle International Corp. (NYSE: CCI) named Daniel Schlanger CFO, effective June 1.
Duke Realty Corp. (NYSE: DRE) hired Dan Colletto as vice president for leasing and development, in its office in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Easterly Government Properties Inc. (NYSE: DEA) named COO Meghan Baivier as CFO. Baivier, who will retain her role as COO, replaces Alison Bernard, who will transition to the role of executive vice president and chief accounting officer.
Macerich (NYSE: MAC) appointed Robert Perlmutter as senior executive vice president and COO. Perlmutter first joined Macerich as executive vice president of leasing in 2012.
Paramount Group, Inc. (NYSE: PGRE) appointed Wilbur Paes as executive vice president, CFO and treasurer. Paes succeeds Michael Walsh, who left to pursue other opportunities.
Piedmont Office Realty Trust (NYSE: PDM) promoted Raymond Owens to chief investment officer. Owens served as Piedmont’s executive vice president for capital markets since 2007.
Simon Property Group (NYSE: SPG) promoted Danielle De Vita to executive vice president of real estate for Simon Premium Outlets, and Michael Romstad was promoted to senior vice president of property management at Simon Mills.
Xenia Hotels & Resorts, Inc. (NYSE: XHR) announced that Andrew Welch stepped down from his positions as executive vice president, CFO and treasurer by mutual agreement with the company’s board of directors. The board appointed Joseph Johnson, Xenia’s senior vice president and chief accounting officer, as principal financial officer and treasurer.
REIT Analyst and Investor Michael Oliver Dies at 72
Michael Oliver, a long-time REIT industry analyst and influential investor, passed away on March 9 at the age of 72. Oliver started his career as a REIT and real estate analyst and portfolio manager at Morgan Guaranty Trust Co. (now J.P. Morgan Chase) in New York. He held a number of other positions around the United States before starting PRA Securities Advisors in San Francisco. PRA Securities Advisors was merged into Heitman Realty, and from 1987 to 1996, Oliver was chairman of Heitman/PRA Securities Advisors, Inc. and president of its Real Estate Fund.
Oliver joined RERC Capital Market, LLC as chairman from 1996 to 1998. He then became a partner in MPAC Capital Partners from 1998 to 2000 and helped governments in Asia develop real estate securities laws. After that, he moved to Juneau, Alaska, from 2000 to 2005 to run the real estate and private equity portfolios of the state of Alaska’s pension fund.
