Rep. John Culberson (R-TX), a member of the House Appropriations Committee, visited the Houston Galleria, a Simon Property Group property located in Houston.

Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-MO), center, visited American Campus Communities' The Cottages of Columbia on the campus of the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri. Hartlzer was briefed on ACC’s other developments in Missouri and updated on several current issues impacting REITs and the student housing industry.

Rep. Filemon Vela (D-TX) visited CBL & Associates Properties, Inc.'s Sunrise Mall in Brownsville, Texas.

Rep. Scott Peters (D-CA) visited Realty Income Corporation’s headquarters in San Diego where he met with John Case, Chief Executive Officer and President.

Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY) visited Simon Property Group's Woodbury Common Premium Outlets in Woodbury, New York. The property, which is the largest outlet center in the world, is in the midst of a major redevelopment.

Representative Tom Reed (R-NY) (center), a member of the House Ways & Means Committee, visited Southern Tiers Crossing, a DDR Corporation property in Horseheads, New York. 

Rep. Mimi Walters (R-CA) toured The Shops at Mission Viejo in Mission Viejo, California, which is owned and operated by mall REIT Simon Property Group.

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) met with Maria Halstead, senior manager, Arrowhead Towne Center, in Phoenix. Arrowhead is owned and operated by The Macerich Company which has several major assets in the greater Phoenix metropolitan area. 

Representative Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), the highest ranking Democrat on the House Budget Committee and candidate for U.S. Senate from Maryland, met with REIT executives at Federal Realty Trust's Pike and Rose Development in North Bethesda, Maryland. 

Rep. Robert Dold (R-IL) visited the Northbrook Court regional mall, owned and managed by General Growth Properties, located in Northbrook, Illinois. Rep. Dold was briefed on the property's economic impact by GGP's Brian Lee, Caryn Torres and Jill Nolte.
