About Nareit’s DEI Recognition Awards

Nareit's 5th Annual Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Recognition Awards honors Nareit individual members, REIT member companies, and REIT staff who have demonstrated a strong commitment and made demonstrated progress within their companies to advance DEI practices, policies, and initiatives that foster environments and organizations of belonging for its people and fair opportunities for its partners.

The 2023 Corporate Award winners are:

Gold: Ventas, Inc. (NYSE: VTR)

Silver: Equinix, Inc. (NYSE: EQIX)

Bronze: Veris Residential, Inc. (NYSE: VRE)

The 2023 Individual Award winner is:

Eligibility

The 2023 applications are now closed. Nareit members will be informed when applications open in spring 2024 for the 2024 awards.

All Nareit member types are eligible to apply—including corporate member companies, employees of corporate member companies, and individual members. Any Nareit member may submit the application on behalf of the company or an individual. You can verify your membership type and learn more about Nareit's memberships  here.

Judging

For the 5th annual 2023 DEI Recognition Awards, the company application consisted of 22 questions—including short answers, yes/no, and multiple choice—focused on operational policies, workforce development, and procurement practices. The individual member application included four essay questions focused on contributions, support, and leadership in the DEI space. Each question was assigned a specific point value, based on a weighted custom score guide. Nareit utilized the expertise and guidance of industry and/or DEI content area experts to evaluate each DEI Recognition Awards application. All applications are independently reviewed and identifying information is redacted.
