The European Public Real Estate Association (EPRA) has published its annual Global REIT Survey, which covers approximately 40 countries across the globe. The survey explores in detail these countries’ history, developments, and recent trends. Nareit has continued to draft the U.S. section of the 2019 EPRA Global REIT Survey, which can be downloaded online.

“It is thanks to the experts in various advisory firms that this publication is possible,” Dominique Moerenhout, EPRA CEO, notes in the survey. “I would like to thank all the authors for their time and commitment.”

As EPRA marks its 20th anniversary, the association notes that the listed real estate sector has come quite a distance over the past two decades. While there was only one REIT regime in Europe in 1999, today 14 European countries have introduced the legislation, with a few more in the pipeline. EPRA also highlights that Portugal is the latest addition to the club, following the introduction of the SIGI regime earlier this year.
