On May 1, 2019, the Financial Services Subcommittee on Diversity and Inclusion will convene a hearing entitled, “Good for the Bottom Line: A Review of the Business Case for Diversity and Inclusion.” The Diversity and Inclusion subcommittee is a newly formed subcommittee of the House Financial Services Committee, and Representative Joyce Beatty (D-OH) is the first-ever chair of the newly-created panel focused on enhancing opportunities for more women and minorities to serve in top levels of the financial services sector.

In 2017, Nareit launched the Dividends Through Diversity and Inclusion (DDI) Initiative to promote the recruitment, inclusion, and advancement of women and members of other diverse groups in REITs and the broader commercial real estate industry. Nareit commends Representative Beatty for her leadership in highlighting the business benefits of enhancing diversity and inclusion.
