Hawaii Grant

A $75,000 Nareit Foundation grant to the nonprofit PAL Hawai‘i (Permanently Affordable Living Hawai‘i) is making the quality of life better for formerly houseless residents in the Kauhale O Kekaha affordable living community on Kauai.

PAL Hawai‘i will utilize the grant to replace an aging 53-year-old roof and to install rooftop solar panels that will help lower utility costs and lessen the building’s energy usage impact on the environment.

Kauhale O Kekaha is a 13-unit apartment complex owned and operated by PAL Hawai‘i, which provides residents with permanent affordable rental housing along with case management and referrals for social service programs to help them be self-sufficient.

Nareit Hawaii Executive Director Gladys Quinto Marrone said, “PAL Hawai‘i is doing an incredible job with its efforts to provide those in need with affordable homes, and we are honored to support their mission with this grant to help the residents of Kauhale O Kekaha.”
