NAREIT joined a group of industry organizations in writing to Hillary Clinton on Sept. 9 to urge the Democratic presidential nominee to maintain current tax law treatment of like-kind exchanges.
“Like-kind exchanges are a powerful tool that accelerates domestic investment and broad-based job growth, while also contributing to critical land conservation efforts,” the organizations wrote in a letter to Clinton.
The letter outlined a number of benefits presented by like-kind exchanges, such as facilitating affordable housing, building equity for small business and creating construction jobs.
