Meredith Despins, NAREIT senior vice president for investment affairs and investor education, recently spoke to a gathering of public sector pension fund managers about the benefits of using REITs to build portfolio value.
Despins addressed the National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems’ (NCPERS) 2016 Public Safety Employees Benefits and Investment Conference in Las Vegas. Her presentation focused on the investment and operating characteristics of publicly traded REITs and the benefits they offer pension portfolios.
Despins also highlighted findings from NAREIT’s internal and sponsored research and provided practical examples of how REITs may be employed within institutional investment portfolios.
NCPERS represents more than 500 public sector pension funds throughout the United States and Canada that collectively manage nearly $4 trillion in pension assets held in trust for approximately 21 million employees and retirees.
