Nareit Senior Vice President for Investment Affairs & Investor Education Meredith Despins delivered a presentation at the Florida Public Pension Trustees Association (FPPTA) Trustees School in Orlando, Florida on Jan. 30 dedicated to real estate investment through REITs.
Nareit’s presentation was part of the continuing education curriculum of the FPPTA’s Public Pension Trustees certification program. This is the third year Nareit has been asked to speak to the program.
The school’s curriculum is intended to provide new and experienced trustees of Florida’s public sector pension plans with information on investments and pension plan operations and enable them to effectively fulfill their responsibilities on behalf of their pension systems.
This year’s school was the largest of any trustee’s school to-date, with 650 trustees, staff and service providers to Florida’s public pension plans in attendance. FPPTA member systems include over 260 pension boards representing police officers, firefighters and general government employees.
