Boston Properties CEO Says Lowering Infection Rate Key to Repopulating Offices
11/25/2020 | by Diane Rusignola

Owen Thomas, CEO of Boston Properties, Inc. (NYSE: BXP), participated in a video interview in conjunction with Nareit’s REITworld: 2020 Annual Conference.

Thomas noted that turnstile counts at many of Boston Properties’ buildings show a “pretty low” number of employees returning to the office at this time.

Thomas stressed that in order to return to pre-pandemic occupancy levels, there must be a reduction in the COVID-19 infection rate across the country.

However, once more people start coming back to the office, Thomas said, “we’ll hit a tipping point and it will accelerate the return to the office.”

Thomas also commented on the numerous health and safety measures Boston Properties has put into practice since the start of the pandemic.
