Kenny Gunderman, president and CEO of Communications Sales & Leasing (NASDAQ: CSAL), joined REIT.com for a CEO Spotlight video interview at REITWeek 2016: NAREIT’s Investor Forum at the Waldorf Astoria New York.

CS&L owns 3.9 million fiber strand miles, 85 wireless towers, and other communications real estate assets throughout the United States and Mexico.

CS&L began trading on NASDAQ in April 2015. Gunderman commented that the company’s priorities in the intervening period have included assembling a new executive team, educating investors, and increasing the diversity of its customer and asset bases.

During the past year, CS&L has invested more than $500 million of capital to attract new tenants, including three of the nation’s largest wireless carriers, according to Gunderman.

In addition, CS&L has added companies within its fiber and tower operations, Gunderman said, which will allow the company to grow.

Meanwhile, Gunderman provided an overview of CS&L’s position within the telecom ecosystem. He observed that CS&L is “uniquely positioned” to participate in the proliferation of spending on fibers and towers and tower-related real estate, including small cells.
