Apartment Income REIT Corp. (NYSE: AIRC) said John McGrath, executive vice president of strategy, capital allocation, and co-chief investment officer, will leave the company effective Sept. 30. Josh Minix, executive vice president and co-chief investment officer since 2021, will take sole responsibility for AIR’s investment function effective that same date.
Dean Shigenaga, president and chief financial officer of Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc. (NYSE: ARE), submitted his resignation from all of his positions with the company and its subsidiaries for personal family health reasons, effective Sept. 15. Following Shigenaga’s resignation, it is expected that he will continue to assist the company with transitional matters and ongoing as a strategic consultant. The board elected Marc Binda as CFO and treasurer, effective Sept.15.
Americold Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE: COLD) named Bryan Verbarendse as chief operating officer for North America. Prior to joining Americold he served as senior vice president of distribution and replenishment for Albertson’s.
Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust, Inc. (BREIT) appointed Robert Harper, BREIT’s current head of asset management and head of Blackstone Real Estate Asset Management Americas, as BREIT’s new president and a member of its board. A.J. Agarwal will be taking a continuing education sabbatical beginning Sept. 15 for nine months and stepped down from his role as president and board member effective Aug. 14. He will serve as an observer of the board throughout his sabbatical.
Essential Properties Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE: EPRT) announced the recent appointments of Kristin Walker as senior vice president–real estate counsel and Robert Salisbury as senior vice president–capital markets. Walker most recently practiced as a shareholder with Polsinelli PC, based in its Denver office and has over 17 years of legal experience specializing in commercial real estate transactions, including as lead counsel to national REIT clients in the industrial and retail/net lease markets. Most recently, Salisbury was with Almanac Realty Investors, which was acquired by Neuberger Berman, and prior to that he was with Citadel Investment Group and V3 Capital Management.
Essex Property Trust, Inc. (NYSE: ESS) appointed Rylan Burns, senior vice president of investment strategy, to lead all of the company’s investment activities effective Sept. 1. Adam Berry will step down as executive vice president and chief investment officer. Burns joined Essex in January 2019. Prior to joining the company, he was a portfolio manager at Millennium Investments.
Howard Hughes Holdings Inc. (NYSE: HHH) named Kristi Smith as president of the company's Maryland region, where she will lead the continued growth and revitalization of Downtown Columbia®. Smith brings 20 years of experience with a focus in the Washington, D.C. metro region. She previously served as executive vice president in charge of development for JBG SMITH (NYSE: JBGS).
Allison Mullis joined Invitation Homes Inc. (NYSE: INVH) as executive vice president and chief human resources officer. Prior to joining Invitation Homes, Mullis was executive vice president, human resources, and internal communications, at Bell, Textron’s rotorcraft subsidiary. Previously, she was HR director for Textron’s Systems, Marine & Land division.
Northwest Healthcare Properties Real Estate Investment Trust (TSX: NWH.UN) appointed Dale Klein, formerly lead independent trustee, non-executive chair. Paul Dalla Lana has stepped away from the board of trustees and has resigned as CEO to focus on initiatives at Northwest Value Partners Inc., the REIT’s largest shareholder. Craig Mitchell, formerly president, has been appointed interim CEO. Mitchell joined Northwest in 2018 as CEO for Australia and New Zealand. Michael Brady has been appointed president. Brady was formerly executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary.
NNN REIT, Inc. (NYSE: NNN) announced that Jonathan Adamo has been appointed executive vice president, portfolio operations. Adamo joined NNN in April 2003 and most recently served as senior vice president, head of portfolio operations.
Ana McKenna Borders joined STAG Industrial, Inc. (NYSE: STAG) as vice president, head of property management. She will provide strategic leadership for STAG’s national property management platform. The role will focus on third party property management relationships, standardized services, and scalability. Most recently, Borders held positions at Jones Lang LaSalle Americas (JLL).
