Total returns for the FTSE Nareit All Equity REITs index moved into positive territory last week, with a 1.2% weekly gain.
Performance varied quite a bit across the property sectors. Office REITs declined, with a return of -2.2%, and diversified, lodging/resorts and health care REITs edged lower or were flat on the week.
Most sectors rose, however, some by appreciable amounts. Industrial REITs led the way with a 3.3% return, and timber and data center REIT sectors each had weekly gains greater than 2%. Mortgage REITs also rose, with a 3.4% total return for commercial financing mREITs and a 2.8% total return for home financing mREITs.
