Five REITs have been recognized as an ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year for 2018 by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

EPA’s annual ENERGY STAR awards honor organizations that have made outstanding contributions to protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency.

Three REITs—Kilroy Realty Corp. (NYSE: KRC), SL Green Realty Corp. (NYSE: SLG) and Vornado Realty Trust (NYSE: VNO)—were designated as a Partner of the Year - Sustained Excellence.

Jeff Hawken, COO at Kilroy, said “lowering operating expenses for our tenants via energy efficiency is a key business strategy.”

Marc Holliday, CEO at SL Green, described the ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence award as “a tremendous validation of our efforts to build, renovate, and finance the future of New York City while seeking to create the greenest footprint achievable across our portfolio.”

Two REITs—Government Properties Income Trust (NASDAQ: GOV) and Forest City Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE: FCE.A)—were recognized as a Partner of the Year - Energy Management.
