REIT executives from across the REIT community met virtually last week for Nareit’s annual CEO Forum & Advocacy Day. Each year this event provides Nareit members with the opportunity to interact with key policymakers from both houses of Congress and across the political aisle.
The CEO Forum began with Nareit’s advisory board meeting, where REIT executives heard about the current trends and conditions impacting the American political spectrum from Brilliant Corners Research and Strategies Founder Cornell Belcher and Engagious President Rich Thau.
Through virtual meetings with lawmakers during the Advocacy Day, REIT executives had the opportunity to discuss some of the most pressing issues currently facing REITs and the real estate investment community. Interactions last week between Nareit member CEOs and elected officials, including House Financial Services Committee Ranking Member Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) and Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ), a senior member of the Senate Finance Committee and Senate Banking Committee, is an important way to underline the benefits of REITs.
