Arc of Maui

An $80,000 grant from the Nareit Foundation to the nonprofit Arc of Maui County is being utilized to replace the aging and leaking roof of the Lahaina group home that houses five residents living with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The grant will also fund the installation of new hot water solar panels for the four group homes that Arc of Maui County operates, including two homes in Kahului and one in Kihei.

The Lahaina group home was not damaged by the August 8 wildfires, but the residents had to be relocated until the electricity and water service could be restored. They moved back home in early November.

Nareit Hawaii Executive Director Gladys Quinto Marrone said, “The work done by Arc of Maui County is so heartwarming because of how they care for these residents in a safe and healthy environment. It’s an honor for us to help make their daily lives a better and happier experience.”
