As part of its community workforce initiative, Prologis (NYSE: PLD) has launched Propel by Prologis, work-based educational programming focused on logistics, distribution, and transportation careers. The REIT partnered with the Quad County Urban League in Chicago on the program.

The three-week program includes hands-on training, job shadowing opportunities, employability skills development, and financial literacy workshops. The curriculum was developed in part by Prologis employees and customers.

“The collaboration between Prologis and organizations like the Quad County Urban League provides individuals with an opportunity to gain critical skills in high-demand sectors while furthering economic growth at a local level,” said Edward Nekritz, chief legal officer at Prologis.

The first class of students graduated from the program this month. The REIT said that as more of its customers face a hiring gap in the logistics industry, Prologis recognizes the importance of job training in building a qualified, diverse workforce.
