Jason Easterly, managing director and Denver office leader-valuation advisory at Stout, participated in a video interview during REITwise 2022: Nareit's Law, Accounting & Finance Conference held in Orlando, Florida on March 23-25.

Easterly described how Stout serves clients in the REIT and commercial real estate industry in areas including valuation and advisory services and investor reporting matters.

Turning to material changes in the real estate and valuation industries that have occurred as a result of the pandemic, Easterly pointed to the shift in how people work and the evolution of the retail space. From a valuation perspective, he pointed to the changes that have occurred in cap rates and rents in the multifamily and industrial sectors.

Meanwhile, Easterly said that although the impact of rising interest rates is yet to be determined, “there’s still a ton of capital floating in the market, so I think that’s likely offsetting, at least in the short run, the effect of rising interest rates.”
