Mark Allan, CEO at Landsec (XLON: LAND), sat down for a video interview during Nareit’s REITweek: 2025 Investor Conference in New York City June 2-5.
Allan said a main theme across Landsec’s business today is “how important it is to own the right real estate in the U.K. right now,” regardless of which property sector you’re in. For London office, that means the best connectivity and amenities, while retailers want fewer but better stores in the best locations. Those trends are driving rents and occupancy, he noted.
Meanwhile, subdued investor activity due to lingering interest rate uncertainty is starting to change, Allan said. There are now some important transactions in the London office space, he noted, with more investors coming back into the market. Investors are starting to recognize the growth that the best assets can deliver, which should result in a steady recovery of transaction activity in 2025 and into 2026, according to Allan.
