Taryn Fielder, EVP, general counsel, and secretary at Veris Residential, Inc. (NYSE: VRE), participated in a video interview in conjunction with Nareit’s REITwise: 2023 Law, Accounting & Finance Conference held March 21-23 in Phoenix, Arizona.
Fielder has served as the general counsel of both an office and multifamily REIT, and she discussed how that role differs depending on the property sector.
Fielder also commented on whether REIT disclosure and reporting has become more complex, despite the Securities and Exchange Commission’s ongoing initiative surrounding disclosure simplification.
“I advise companies to try to be as straightforward and easy to understand for our investors as possible. We don’t want things to be complicated. I appreciate any initiative that also attempts to contribute to that effort.” Fielder said.
