Paul McDermott, president and CEO of Washington REIT (NYSE: WRE), joined REIT.com for a video interview at REITWeek 2016: NAREIT’s Investor Forum at the Waldorf Astoria New York.
McDermott discussed the changes underway at Washington REIT that have turned the predominantly suburban office REIT into an urban-infill focused player with significantly greater parity between office, multifamily and retail properties.
McDermott also commented on the balance between acquisitions and development going forward, and how the company tackles investor misperceptions about the state of the Washington, D.C. market.
“A lot of the heavy lifting is behind us now. We have a solid foundation that we can build off of, and we’re pretty excited about the future,” McDermott said.
