The FTSE Nareit All Equity REITs index rose narrowly, with a total return of 0.1% for the week ending Nov. 19, while the FTSE Nareit Equity REITs index rose 0.3%. Year-to-date total returns for All Equity REITs stands at 31.9% and 35.2% for Equity REITs. Broader markets also posted a narrow gain with a total return of 0.1% on the Russell 1000, which has a year-to-date total return of 25.4%.
REIT property sector performance was mixed. Data centers led with a total return of 3.6%, with timber following at 3.2% and industrial at 1.5%. Lodging/resorts and specialty both lagged with total returns of -4.1% and -2.1%, respectively.
Mortgage REITs declined, with returns of -3.3% for commercial financing mREITs and -2.0% for home financing mREITs.
