Nareit’s annual Leader in the Light Awards honor Nareit member companies that have demonstrated superior and sustained sustainability practices. The 2021 GRESB Assessment and Nareit’s Leader in the Light Award program will open for submission on April 1. Scores for the 2021 Nareit Leader in the Light Awards will be based on a combination of the GRESB score and the Leader in the Light supplemental questions, as evaluated by a panel of judges.
New for 2021, the GRESB score and an updated supplemental questionnaire will each be weighted at 50% of the overall Leader in the Light score. The Leader in the Light Awards are presented to REITs in eight property sectors: Diversified; Global (non-U.S.-based companies); Data Center; Health Care; Industrial; Office; Residential; and Retail. Awards are also presented to those in the “Most Innovative” and “Leadership Personified” categories.
