Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage (AAPI) Month is a moment to reflect on Asian American and Pacific Islander professionals who have an essential role in making the REIT industry more diverse and successful, and in celebration this May, Nareit is sharing REIT stories.

AvalonBay Communities (NYSE: AVB) recently hosted a virtual event featuring Michelle Li, co-founder of The Very Asian Foundation and founder of The May Book Project, a national awareness campaign promoting diverse Asian American youth literature. Several AvalonBay associates also joined Li on a visit to schools in Arlington, Virginia, to see firsthand the impact of The May Book Project. AvalonBay donated $25,000 to The Very Asian Foundation in support of The May Book Project and to shine a light on Asian experiences through advocacy and celebration.

Hudson Pacific Properties, Inc. (NYSE: HPP) said that in honor of Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month, its San Francisco team recently collaborated with the local nonprofit Asians are Strong to host an event at the Ferry Building recognizing the achievements of Asian women.

Iron Mountain Inc. (NYSE: IRM) is honoring Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month by highlighting its preservation project with its nonprofit partner CyArk: Angel Island Immigration Station.

Public Storage (NYSE: PSA) hopes to uplift its members to be leaders in whatever they do, whether it be at work or through their own personal passions, and thanks its Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander employees for their rich and meaningful contributions to the company.

W.P. Carey (NYSE: WPC) said that in honor of Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month, it is proud to support Asian Americans Advancing Justice (AAJC), Southeast Asia Resource Action Center (SEARAC), and National Asian Pacific American Women's Forum (NAPAWF) for their empowering work in the community advancing human and civil rights and combating anti-Asian violence.
