Dividend Yields: Six Sectors Beat Equity REIT Index Benchmark

Six Equity REIT sectors had dividend yields at the end of July that exceeded the yield of the FTSE NAREIT All Equity REITs Index’s 3.47 percent.  The top-yielding sector was Specialty REITs, with a 5.10 percent dividend yield.  Lodging/Resorts produced a dividend yield of 5.10 percent; Health Care’s yield was 4.88 percent; the Diversified Sector’s yield was 3.97 percent; Timber REITs yielded 3.79 percent; and Free Standing Retail REITs yielded 3.69 percent.

The FTSE NAREIT Mortgage REITs Index had a dividend yield of 8.66 percent at July 31, and Home Financing REITs beat that performance with an 8.74 percent yield.
