NAREIT NAMES 2017 OFFICERS AND BOARD MEMBERS
AVALONBAY CEO TIMOTHY NAUGHTON TO SERVE AS CHAIR
WASHINGTON, D.C., Nov. 8—The National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT) today announced the election of its 2017 officers, as well as the members of its Executive Board, the organization’s governing board, and its Advisory Board of Governors.
NAREIT’s new Chair is Timothy J. Naughton, Chairman and CEO of AvalonBay Communities, Inc. Naughton takes over from NAREIT’s 2016 Chair, Edward J. Fritsch, President and CEO of Highwoods Properties, Inc.
“I am pleased and honored to have the opportunity to serve our industry as NAREIT’s 2017 Chair,” Naughton said. “Coming into this office, I have a solid foundation on which to build. My predecessors who served as Chair have achieved a great deal on behalf of our industry.
“In the year ahead, I look forward to building on that platform,” he said. “We will continue to build awareness among all of our audiences for the importance of REITs – as a core investment; as an economic contributor; and as an engine of job creation and growth for our communities.”
