Investors focused on income continued to find much to like in the REIT market in November. The FTSE NAREIT All REITs Index had a dividend yield of 4.33 percent on November 30, the FTSE NAREIT All Equity REITs Index had a dividend yield of 3.98 percent and the FTSE NAREIT Mortgage REITs Index had a dividend yield of 10.11 percent. In comparison, the dividend yield of the S&P 500 on November 30 was 2.12 percent.
Six Equity REIT market segments had dividend yields that exceeded the FTSE NAREIT All Equity REITs Index. They were:
- Specialty, 6.37 percent
- Health Care, 5.59 percent
- Lodging/Resorts, 5.18 percent
- Free Standing Retail, 4.73 percent
- Diversified, 4.65 percent
- Timber, 3.99 percent
The dividend yield of the Home Financing Mortgage REIT segment was 10.86 percent, and the dividend yield of the Commercial Financing segment was 8.19 percent.
