Nareit shares the strides that its member REITs are taking to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and how they are recognizing Black History Month this year.

Black History Month is a moment to reflect on the Black experience in our nation and celebrate the many accomplishments of Black Americans. Nareit will be sharing the strides that our member REITs are taking to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and how they are recognizing Black History Month this year. Nareit members are invited to submit internal news stories, photos, social posts, and videos to communications@nareit.com.

Aimco (NYSE: AIV) will celebrate African American culture and the inspiring leaders who have helped make a difference in the world.

In honor of Black History Month, Americold (NYSE: COLD) will be sharing the voices of their associates, including Rydell Fisher, customer service representative; Terrance King Sr., general manager; Jamyle Jones, lift truck operator; Damonica Fuller, dock clerk; and Derek Elam, short haul driver. Americold continued to celebrate Black History Month by sharing their employees’ perspectives on what this month means to them. Recently, they featured Ricardo De La Cruz, lift truck operator; Cortiana Vanderhorst, warehouse laborer; Waymon Thomas, yard jockey; and Charles Thompson, warehouse laborer.

Throughout Black History Month, AMH (NYSEMKT: AMH) will be amplifying the voices of their employees, starting with a testimonial featuring Moe Ali, chair of their Black and African American Employee Resource Group, and a spotlight of LaDawndre Stinson, vice president of human resources.

As part of the AvalonBay Communities (NYSE: AVB) celebration of Black History Month, the REIT's general manager at Avalon Mission Bay, Destiny Bushnell, is sharing a fun fact about herself. Last month, the REIT's Black Associate Coalition (BAC) partnered with The National Urban League to host a webinar on the State of Black America, which explored racial equality in various sectors such as economics, housing, and employment in 2022.

Camden Property Trust (NYSE: CPT) recognizes Black History Month as an opportunity to commemorate the experience and achievements of Black Americans and encourages finding ways to celebrate Black excellence every day.

Extra Space Storage (NYSE: EXR) shares the why behind Black History Month.

A new cohort of Healthpeak Properties, Inc. (NYSE: PEAK) Scholars powered by Project Destined was announced this month. Healthpeak Properties, Inc. has awarded scholarships to a talented group of students for their outstanding achievements. This scholarship will provide students with financial support and the opportunity to engage with Healthpeak Properties, Inc. professionals as they build a career in the sector.

Hines Global Income Trust's employee resource group, Black Employee Advancement Network, will host programming during Black History Month to share insights on progression, mental health and available resources for Black communities.

As part of their Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging program, Host Hotels & Resorts (HST: NASDAQ), hosted a series of educational and celebratory events in honor of Black History Month. In support of Host’s focus on health, well-being and health equity for all, a local African American chef and holistic nutritionist hosted an on-site cooking demo where she showed employees how to make healthy dishes. Additionally, one of Host’s employees hosted a lunch and learn session where he shared his personal reflections on Black History Month including stories about overcoming adversity, making a positive difference in the community and living a healthier lifestyle. As the capstone to the Black History Month series, Host invited several of their non-profit partners who are focused on driving change in our Black and Brown communities to a social justice fair at the company’s headquarters, and employees had an opportunity to learn more about the organizations’ work and programs along with ways to get involved.

All month long, Independence Realty Trust (IRT: NYSE) is highlighting team members who share what Black History Month means to them. To date, IRT has showcased comments from Star, a Leasing Professional at Fountains Southend; Brittany, a Resident Account Specialist at their Chicago Office; and TeJay, a Community Manager at Fountains Southend in Charlotte.

Led by their Black Collective ERG, Invitation Homes (NYSE: INVH) will be celebrating Black History Month in many ways, including highlighting Black leaders in real estate, and other internal offerings.

In celebration of Black History Month, Kimco Realty Corporation (NYSE: KIM) is showcasing Black-owned businesses across their portfolio, including the talented stylists and artists at My Salon Suite at Suburban Square: The GlamourRox Experience, T Styled It, and Wax Hair Wax There LLC.

OUTFRONT Media Inc. (NYSE: OUT) said it is partnering with Ad Age in celebrating Black History Month, utilizing out-of-home media to showcase exceptional talent in the creative industry. The REIT also said it is partnering with The Museum of Modern Art, Artsy, and Ad Age to highlight Black artists and creators on billboards.

Phillips Edison & Company, Inc. (Nasdaq: PECO), said PECO MORE, its associate-led diversity and inclusion resource group, aims to make a difference in and strengthen the communities PECO serves. They will be providing education, awareness, and engagement in celebrating Black History Month.

Physicians Realty Trust (NYSE: DOC) said it is continuing to make strides to support Black-owned businesses through its supplier diversity efforts, generating economic opportunities to spur positive change in its communities.

For Black History Month, Prologis, Inc.'s (NYSE: PLD) Black Industrial Leadership Network (BILN) brought together colleagues in Atlanta, Denver, San Francisco, and Orlando to enjoy catered lunches from local Black-owned restaurants.

Public Storage (NYSE: PSA) is honoring Black History month by celebrating Tony Gradford, who joined Public Storage 25 years ago as a call center agent and is now a vice president.

Spearheaded by SITE Helpers, our employee-led diversity, equity, and inclusion program, over 100 SITE Centers Corp. (NYSE: SITC) team members gathered virtually yesterday for a lunch and learn forum centered on #BlackHistoryMonth. The event was a highly-interactive session focused on education, sharing, and reflection about the origin of Black History Month and its relevance to all Americans. W. P. Carey Inc. (WPC: NYSE) is honoring Black History Month by highlighting the numerous contributions the Black community has made in shaping our society. Throughout February, the W. P. Carey DEI Committee is sharing a series of spotlights on Black Americans whose achievements helped shape our country, but are often excluded from mainstream conversation. W. P. Carey will also be hosting Dr. Peniel Joseph, a professor and civil rights advocate, for a discussion on his book, The Sword and the Shield: The Revolutionary Lives of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr.
