Brandywine Realty Trust President and CEO Jerry Sweeney has been recognized for his contributions to the economy of the city of Philadelphia.

Essex Property Trust, Inc. (NYSE: ESS) President and CEO Michael Schall has been named the 2015 Multifamily Executive of the Year by MULTIFAMILY EXECUTIVE Magazine. The magazine said it chose Schall not only for his role in the $4.3 billion purchase of former West Coast competitor BRE Properties, but also for the speed with which the firms were integrated.

REITs around the world will be able to use the .REIT top-level domain name in internet addresses. Only REITs will be able to use the .REIT designation, creating a new identification element in their communications that will enhance their identity as REITs among their audiences.

Apartment REIT comes in at 40th overall in FORTUNE magazine rankings based on survey of more than 135,000 female employees at more than 600 companies. The rankings account for factors such as opinions on the fairness of promotion decisions and female representation in the workforce and management positions.

American Tower Corp. (NYSE: AMT) Chairman and CEO Jim Taiclet has been named to Forbes Magazine’s 2015 Global 2000 CEO Hall of Fame.

In compiling its 2015 list, Forbes looked at those companies that made the biggest move up its list of the world’s largest companies during the past decade.

A. Alfred Taubman, the founder of Taubman Centers, Inc.  who is widely credited with inventing the concept of the indoor shopping mall, died of a heart attack in his home in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., on April 18. He was 91.
