Rep. Cedric Richmond (D-LA) visited the corporate headquarters of Lamar Advertising in Baton Rouge, LA where he met with CEO Sean Reilly. Mr. Reilly gave the Congressman a tour of Lamar's headquarters and described for him the economic impact the company provides to Baton Rouge and the state of Louisiana.

Rep. David Schweikert (R-AZ) visited the Vista De Sol dormitory facility located at Arizona State University (ASU) in Tempe, AZ which is owned and managed by American Campus Communities (ACC). Schweikert, a member of the House Financial Services Committee, was briefed on ACC's properties at ASU and other Arizona universities.
Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) visited the corporate headquarters of Iron Mountain in Boston. The Senator was briefed on Iron Mountain's operations in Connecticut, its global real estate portfolio, and its status as a REIT.
REIT executives were on hand at the NYSE on Sept. 14 to ring the closing bell. NAREIT helped organize the event to commemorate the elevation of real estate to a new GICS headline sector.
